I am Ann Marie Miller, and I own two Pennsylvania businesses that look very different on paper and feel identical from the inside: Signature Miller Events, a personal care and beauty products line, and Miller Data LLC, a custom software development company.
The personal care side started at a kitchen counter, out of frustration with long ingredient lists and small, expensive bottles. It grew into a full range of skincare, haircare, bath and grooming products, made in small batches, batch coded, and now supplied to households, salons, spas, hotels and retailers.
The software side started for the same reason. Running a growing product business meant orders, stock, invoices and customers scattered across spreadsheets and disconnected tools. I built what I needed, other business owners asked for the same thing, and Miller Data LLC became its own company — building web and business applications, booking and event systems, integrations, automation and reporting.
That is the thread between the two: I have actually run the operation the software is meant to help. When we talk about your workflow, stock counts, invoicing or reporting, it is a conversation between two people who have done the work, not a sales call.
How I work
Three things I will not compromise on.
Say it plainly
No jargon on an invoice, no jargon in a project update. You always know what you are buying and what it costs.
Small batches, small teams
Whether it is a run of soap or a software release, I would rather ship something careful than something rushed.
Finish the job
Products arrive properly packed. Projects arrive documented, tested and supported after launch.
